Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok

  • Sharp knife

  • Cutting board

  • Mixing bowls

  • Measuring spoons

  • Stirring spoon

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast, thinly sliced (400g)

  • Mixed bell peppers, sliced (2 cups)

  • Broccoli, cut into florets (1 cup)

  • Carrots, thinly sliced (1 cup)

  • Garlic, minced (2 cloves)

  • Ginger, minced (1 tbsp)

  • Red pepper flakes (1 tsp)

  • Soy sauce (2 tbsp)

  • Honey (1 tbsp)

  • Olive oil (2 tbsp)

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions

1

Start by marinating the chicken in salt, pepper, and a tablespoon of soy sauce.

2

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add olive oil.

3

Add garlic and ginger to the hot oil and sauté until fragrant.

4

Introduce the chicken and cook until it’s no longer pink.

5

Toss in the broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers.

6

In a small bowl, mix the remaining soy sauce, honey, and red pepper flakes. Pour this sauce over the stir fry.

7

Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

8

Garnish with fresh coriander.

9

Notes

It's essential to prepare your ingredients before heating the pan - a concept known as mise en place. Use a sharp knife for even cuts as this ensures uniform cooking. Marinate the chicken with salt, pepper, and a dash of soy sauce for extra flavor. Don’t overcook the vegetables; keeping them slightly crunchy retains nutrients and texture. Lastly, feel free to experiment with different veggies and spices.
