  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes

  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Freshly chopped parsley for garnish



Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook until translucent.


Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
