  • Large mixing bowl

  • Baking dish

  • Cheese grater

  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of broccoli florets

  • 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: Fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2

In a large pot, bring water to a boil and blanch the broccoli florets for 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.

3

In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden brown.

4

In a large bowl, combine the sautéed onions and garlic with broccoli, milk, Greek yogurt, half of the cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper.

5

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle the rest of the cheese and breadcrumbs on top.

6

Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.

7

Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot.

Notes

When preparing the broccoli, ensure that the florets are cut into even sizes for uniform cooking. Opt for fresh broccoli for the best taste, but frozen can work in a pinch. When adding cheese, you can experiment with different types like Gouda or Parmesan for varied flavors. Using Greek yogurt adds a creamy texture without the added fats of cream. Don't be shy to use herbs and spices to enhance the taste.
