Equipment

  • a jar or a bowl

  • a spoon

  • a refrigerator

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter

  • 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup

  • A pinch of salt

  • Toppings: extra peanut butter, chocolate chips, or banana slices

Instructions

1

In a jar or a bowl, mix the rolled oats, unsweetened almond milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, natural peanut butter, honey or maple syrup, and a pinch of salt.

2

Stir all ingredients until they're well combined.

3

Cover the jar or bowl with a lid or plastic wrap.

4

Place it in the refrigerator overnight (or for at least 6 hours).

5

In the morning, give it a good stir, and add your preferred toppings before serving.

Notes

Firstly, using rolled oats is crucial as they soak up the liquid well and give a great texture. Secondly, for a creamier texture, you could swap half the almond milk with Greek yogurt. It adds a protein punch as well. The choice of sweetener is also up to you. While honey imparts a distinct sweetness, maple syrup is a great vegan option. Lastly, feel free to experiment with toppings. From fresh fruits to nuts and seeds, the options are endless.
