  • Large mixing bowl

  • Chopping board

  • Knife

  • Brush for oil

  • Skewers (optional)

Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin

  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander

  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Olive oil for brushing

Instructions

1

First, preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.

2

In a large bowl, combine the minced beef, chopped onion, parsley, ground cumin, ground coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.

3

Mix well, but don't overdo it.

4

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into small logs or patties.

5

Lightly brush them with olive oil.

6

Place them on the grill or in the oven and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until cooked through.

7

Once done, serve hot with your choice of sides.

Notes

I would recommend is making sure the meat is at room temperature before mixing it with spices. This will ensure even cooking. Also, be gentle when combining the ingredients. Over-mixing may cause the kaftas to become too dense. When it comes to spices, feel free to adjust to your liking. For an added depth of flavor, consider using fresh herbs.
