Equipment

  • A wok or large frying pan

  • A sharp knife

  • Cutting board

  • Mixing bowls

  • A spatula or large spoon

Ingredients

  • 400g lean beef strips

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, snow peas)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1-inch ginger, grated

  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: sesame seeds, fresh herbs (such as cilantro), lime wedges

Instructions

1

Start by slicing the beef into thin strips.

2

In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and pepper. Marinate the beef in this mixture for at least 30 minutes.

3

Cut vegetables into bite-sized pieces.

4

Heat a wok or large frying pan over high heat and add olive oil.

5

Add the beef and stir fry for 2-3 minutes or until it’s nearly cooked. Remove and set aside.

6

In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed, and stir-fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes.

7

Return the beef to the pan, add minced garlic and grated ginger, and stir for another 2 minutes.

8

Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds, fresh herbs, and lime wedges.

Notes

Selecting quality ingredients is paramount. Opt for lean cuts of beef like sirloin or tenderloin for tender meat. When cutting vegetables, aim for uniform sizes to ensure even cooking. Experiment with different sauces to find the perfect blend; hoisin, teriyaki, or even a dash of fish sauce can elevate the flavor profile. Marinating the beef for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator can enhance its taste and tenderness. Always stir-fry on high heat and add garlic and ginger at the end to avoid burning them.
